Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin plans to open franchised versions of his Australia Zoo around the world. His Sunshine Coast-based zoo was named the country’s tourism exporter of the year at a national awards ceremony on Thursday night and Irwin said a proposal to build an Australia Zoo in Las Vegas could be just the start. “We’re talking about establishing satellite Australia Zoos around Australia and around the world,” Irwin said. “It would be the greatest marketing tool for Australian tourism on the face of the Earth.”
