Naughty Wombat Encounter
Imagine digging sand with Australia's favourite excavator! At Australia Zoo you can get closer than ever to this amazing native mammal. During a wombat experience you will be able to pat, touch and feed these cuties! What a ripper!
Timing and Days
- One Wombat encounter is held daily.
- There are only 5 spaces available per encounter.
- Wombat encounters are held at 2.30pm – 2.50pm
- Patrons need to meet at the information counter 15 minutes prior to encounter.
Bookings
- Bookings need to be made at the Information Desk by 2pm on the day of the encounter.
- Pre-bookings can be made by contacting Information on 54362002.
- Minimum age 8 years
Extras
- A professional photographer will take photos of your encounter. These photos are available for purchase from our photography lab 30 minutes after completion.
Note: Patrons must wear closed in shoes.

Terms and Conditions
- All participants must agree to follow all instructions given by the handlers
- Participants may be asked to exit the enclosure at any time for whatever reason at the handlers' discretion
- Please ensure that you wash your hands both before and after the encounter
- No personal items or food are permitted during the experience, with the exception of cameras
- Participants are required to wear enclosed footwear at all times during the encounter
- Please remember that wombats are wild animals and quite capable of exercising their natural instincts
- Do not under any circumstances attempt to pat or roughly handle the wombats
- Australia Zoo does not take responsibility for any injuries that are received during the experience, including scratches and bites. First Aid will be called if required
- An Australia Zoo photographer will be present during the experience to capture the action. All photos are available for viewing and purchasing from the Fujifilm Photography Lab
